“CONFIDENCE” BECOMES TIKTOK SENSATION ENTERS BILLBOARD SINGLES CHART

Toronto, ON – December 4^th 2023- One of Australia’s most exciting musical exports, Ocean Alley are returning to Canada for what is fast becoming their annual summer tour. Tickets for their biggest shows to date at History, Toronto (Jun 26^th), MTELUS, Montreal (Jun 27^th) and Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, Vancouver (July 6^th) go on sale this Friday, December 8^thand follows their sold out Canadian dates last summer. The tour announcement coincides with the beloved Australian band becoming a recent viral TikTok sensation led by the use of their 2018 breakthrough single “Confidence” in the Behind Every Girltrend that has seen the sound have over 110K creations, led to the track enter the Billboard Single Charts and hit 1M daily streams globally.

With its stacked harmonies and soulful swagger, “Confidence” resonated with Ocean Alley’s home audience in Australia back in 2018, following the release of their second album, Gold-certified Chiaroscuro. It took the #1 spot in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards. For the first time, last month the track has landed in the US Billboard Singles Charts for Rock & Alternative, landing at #15 Hot Alternative Songs, #21 Hot Rock Songs and #27 Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, #16 in New Zealand’s Top 40 Singles, and #19 in the UK’s Independent Single Breakers Chart. The song has placed on Spotify’s Top 50 Chart in New Zealand (#8), Australia (#15), UK (#39), as well placing on the Viral 50 Chart in Iceland (#1), Lithuania (#1), Denmark (#2), Portugal (#2), Ireland (#3), Sweden (#3), and #4 in each UK, Canada, Norway, USA, South Africa, Belgium and Netherlands, just to name a few, plus #14 on Spotify’s Viral 50 – Global Chart and #66 on Shazam’s Global Chart.

The resurgence of “Confidence” follows a huge 12 months of touring for the band off-the-back of the release of their latest album Low Altitude Living. This year, the band have sold more than 42,000 tickets across their Australian headline shows, plus a further 35,000 tickets sold across 34 shows in the UK, Europe, North America and New Zealand. They had a number of key festival call-ups including Reading & Leeds (UK), Sziget (HU), BottleRock (US) and Rhythm & Alps (NZ) to name a few.
